GREAT CRESTED GREBE

Great Crested Grebe with juvenile, perhaps teaching him how to catch fish! These are beautiful birds, elegant, long necked, and in Spring, with a glorious crest, which disappears in Winter; unlike ducks, they spend all their life on the water. They dive for fish, and will juggle with the fish until it is head down - then they will eat it whole. Grebes are found on most watery surfaces - lakes, reservoir and sea.
